Content:
During the lectures we will discuss optical networks. Optical networks are widely implemented for the transport network and are gaining increased interest in the access networks. Fundamental insight to optical fibre communication will be given followed by topics like wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), optical switching, passive optical networks and free space optics.

Recommended Background:
TTM4100 Communication - Services and Networks TTM 4150 Internet Network Architecture, or equivalent.

Course Material:
7-10 technical papers given at semester start.

Teaching Method:
Colloquia. The students will contribute to and give some of the lectures. Some of the discussions and lectures will utilise videoconferencing.

Learning Goal:
Give the students in-depth knowledge of a telematics topic of high significance.
