TTM9 Traffic and Dependability, laboratory in tools and methodology
ECTS Credits:
3,75
Content:
Discrete event simulation and analytical methods are used to evaluate solutions and understand phenomena in ICT systems. Complexity and need for processing power require use of powerful tools. In this subject the emphasis is on Demos as simulation language and Mathematica as computational tool. The subject encompasses development of simulation models, structuring, measurements, computation of confidence intervals, and presentation of results. Solution of analytical models in Mathematica, post processing of data, and graphical presentation of results. There will be given laboratory tasks to demonstrate typical problems.
Course Material:
Given at semester start.
Recommended Background:
TTM 4110 Dependability and Performance with Discrete Event Simulation. For maturation purposes, one the subjects TTM4120 Dependable Systems or TTM4155 Teletraffic Theory or equivalent.
Teaching Method:
Introduction lectures and laboratory exercises. There will be given 4 laboratory exercises of which 3 must be approved before exam.
Learning Goal:
To become familiar with tools and methods for studying traffic- and dependability properties of communications technology systems, and to acquire skills.
