Hi,
I am a Vietnamese boat people, escaping from communism in 1979.
I was rescued by a Norwegian tanker, Berge Sisu and hence allowed
to settle in Norway with my family. I am married and have three
boys. We consider ourselves very lucky to survive the escape. We
are very happy in Norway but nevertheless, always hope to be able
to come back some day to a free and democratic Vietnam.
I received an M.S. in Electrical & Computer Sciences Engineering
at Norges Tekniske Høgskole, (now called NTNU
Trondheim, 1984 and a Ph.D. in Informatics at the Institute for
Informatics ( Ifi ),University
of Oslo. Before joining Ericsson
in 1991, I was working at the Hardware R&D department, Norsk
Data, a minicomputer manufacturer in Norway from 1984.
From 1994, I was assigned to a joined research project between
Ericsson, Telenor Research and Unik, which allowed me to work on
my Ph.D. degree. My advisors are Professor Pål Spilling
and Professor Jan Audestad, Telenor Senior Advisor and Professor
at NTNU. I completed my Ph.D. in 1997 with the thesis
" Mobility as an Open Distributed Processing transparency".
I am now working at Telenor R&D. I am in charge of Personal
Area Networks & Data Applications (PANDA) research activities
within the wireless communication department.
